Teachers

The Institute hires teachers from the ranks of local public and private school teachers and from local graduate studies programs. The teachers bring a variety of professional and academic experiences to the job, but there is a key quality that they all share: they understand first-hand the power of getting absorbed in great books. The teachers are lifelong readers, dedicated to sharing the academic and personal rewards of reading.

In addition to providing clear, effective skills instruction and leading engaging class discussions about books, teachers forge an active partnership with parents, particularly at the younger age levels, where parents are looking for guidance about how to best support their child’s efforts to learn to read. The teachers work to ensure that each family has a productive, positive experience with the program.
