If reading isn’t solid, every subject gets harder. Practices, projects, screens, and a school day that already asks for more reading than many students can do fluently. Another vague “reading program” sounds like one more thing that won’t get done. This is not that.
At school, about 85% of the grade 3–12 curriculum runs on reading comprehension (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development). School will keep raising the ceiling. It will not give your child a separate hour with a live teacher who meets them where they are.
Families wait for “things to settle.” The school year is when they don’t. What’s different is a structured approach that continuously builds skill and confidence — while they have fun and enjoy great stories — in a way that complements school. Foundational now, not wedged in later.
How to read that last number: they are hours completed, not hours assigned. At this age that is the whole question — and the work gets done because a live teacher is expecting your child next week, and because the reading is pitched where they actually read instead of where their grade says.

Because reading develops in stages, not on a birthday — a student can move up a grade every year without the reading stage moving with them. It works as a cycle: skill makes reading easier, easier reading builds confidence, confidence makes a student willing to read more, and reading more is what builds the next skill. At this age the cycle turns in whichever direction it is already going, and waiting doesn’t turn it around. The relief: every part of that cycle is teachable. You want your child to feel successful as much as you want them to be successful — and both are built the same way: a live teacher, reading pitched where they actually are, and a few minutes a day.

Because by middle school, school has stopped teaching reading — it assumes the skill and builds every subject on top of it. Waiting for a report card to confirm what you already hear at home is how another year passes.

What does the week look like?
One live class a week with an expert reading teacher, plus short guided work between sessions and a skills check you can see. Weekly reading material is part of the lesson.
Small group or one-on-one?
Small group for most students — six max, one teacher, discussion that builds comprehension. One-on-one when you want them to move faster, need a specific gap fixed, or no small-group time fits the week.
How do you place my child?
We place your child where they actually read — which at this age is often not where their grade says. If a placement isn’t right, we re-level within 7 days at no charge.
When does it start?
After you enroll, you pick day and time. First class can be next week — or a couple of weeks out. Spots are held through enrollment, not by inquiry.
