Skill grows on volume — on how many minutes a child spends reading something they can actually read. One session a week is where a teacher finds the gap, teaches the skill, and sets the next book. What decides whether the skill sticks is the other six days.
So we send the six days home with them: a book at their exact level, short guided practice, and a skills check the following week that tells you whether the lesson landed. Same teacher-led hour you came here for. The difference is what surrounds that hour.
How to read that last number: it’s a real weekly check — not a sticker for showing up. Most kids master the skill they were taught that week. You’re not left guessing whether the reading is sticking.

Because reading develops in stages, not on a birthday — and the build either keeps moving or it stalls. It works as a cycle: skill makes reading easier, easier reading builds confidence, confidence makes a child want to read more, and reading more is what builds the next skill. Once that cycle is turning, it carries itself. When it isn’t turning, waiting doesn’t start it — the year just goes by at the speed it was already going. You still cannot know until you have lived a couple of weeks of the work whether this time, this teacher and this workload actually fit your week. So the first two sessions exist for you to find out: tuition is refunded in full if you notify us within 48 hours of the student’s second session, or within 21 days of purchase — whichever comes first. Both. One-on-one is one teacher and one child for the whole session, $349 a month. Small-group tutoring is about four children, never more than six, $199 a month. Same curriculum, same materials, same instructional spine either way.
Who teaches my child?
An IRD Expert Teacher, live, every week. They teach all grades, so they understand the stages of reading development, where your child is in them, and what your child needs to move forward. If the match is wrong we rematch within seven days at no charge and add one session with the new teacher at no charge.
Do you test my child before we start?
No appointment and no gate. You enroll, you pick a day and time, and the teacher meets your child where they are. One-on-one tutoring includes a free assessment as session 1. Small-group tutoring does not require one; a free assessment is offered as a lead-capture form at readingprograms.org/summer#assessment if a parent wants one first — they do not wait for that assessment to enroll. If the level is wrong we re-place within seven days at no charge.
How soon can we start?
Within days. After you enroll you get a chance to pick your day and time, and the first class can be as soon as a couple of days out.
Am I locked in?
No. Tutoring bills once a calendar month until you stop, and nothing is owed past the month you have already paid for. Email help@readingprograms.org.

What if it isn’t the right fit?
Tuition is returned if you tell us within 48 hours of your child’s second session, or within 21 days of purchase — whichever comes first. This is a decision window, not a free trial. If a printed book set has already shipped, its $87 is retained. We also rematch the teacher or re-place the level within 7 days at no charge when needed.
What if my child misses a class?
Tell us at least 24 hours ahead and we schedule a makeup lesson or extend the term so your student doesn’t lose instruction time. The recording and that week’s book stay available either way.
Can we pause later?
Yes — once every twelve months, for up to 90 days, by email to help@readingprograms.org. You name your return date. A pause holds the plan, not a seat in one particular class at one particular hour.
What does “3 out of 4 pass their skills check” mean?
Every week your child is taught a skill, then checked on our own skills check — not a state test and not a grade-level label. Across our program, about three out of four kids pass that check every week. It’s how we know the work is sticking, not a claim about reading better than other children.
Do we have to buy the books?
No. Every book is already in the lessons as an ebook, and tuition is identical either way. The printed set is optional — twelve books for twelve weeks, $87 once (not part of the monthly tuition).
